As the logging industry evolves, so do we and here we look to Switzerland where the first winch assist system was adapted to logging in the early 90’s and finally launched in 2004. The first traction winch systems were used on forwarders to assist with log extraction on the slopes. As the practice evolved faster in parts of the world, the immediate benefits are safety, less environmental impact and ultimately a new way to extract timber on the slopes. Our approach to the winch assist is “DTC” or Dual Torque Control, whereby two motors are constantly engaged on both sides of the drum in full control of the winch, with 1:1 braking on both sides. We worked tirelessly to design a winch that is powerful and safe with integrated cooling to ensure performance.  The units are supplied in kit form ready to fit onto excavator carrier units.
